The Nordic communists - common fight against the European Union In order of strengthening the co-operation between communists in the Nordic region, representatives from Communist Party in Denmark (KPiD), Communist Workers Party of Finland (KTP), Communist Party of Sweden and Communist Party of Norway held a conference about the European Union, in Halden in Norway, May 9th to 12th 2002. The communist parties in the Nordic region express in a common statement that it is through EU that the imperialistic globalisation process is forced upon Europe. The principles in which EU has been built, are the model of NAFTA and later Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA), Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI) and the so called free trade of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). EU is: The communist parties in the Nordic region agree that peoples resistance against the Eu is necessary: We state that the parties have a common position towards EU and its consequences, and we bind us to fight for keeping Norway out of the EU and at the same time cancel the European Economical Agreement (EEA), as well as Denmark, Finland and Sweden resign the EU membership. EUs demand for privatisation and destruction of the peoples and working class collective and social rights we communists will struggle through: The Nordic communist parties are committed to fight against: Because of all this we seek to strengthen the cooperation with communist- and workers parties and to back the popular movements in the countries applying for EU membership in their fight against entering the European Union. Communist Party in Denmark (KPiD), Communist Workers Party of Finland (KTP), Communist Party of Sweden and Communist Party of Norway. Halden, Norway, May 12th 2002. Statement of the Nordic Young communists against the European Union: In the meeting of Nordic communist parties in Halden, Norway from May 9th to 12th 2002 where also taking part representatives from KpiD-U (Youth in the Communist Party in Denmark), SKU (Communist Youth union of Sweden) and NKU (Communist Youth union of Norway). We, the young communists, share strategy with the communist parties in the Nordic region and take part in the fight against EU together with the popular movements in our home countries. Areas, which in particular affect youth, are for instance The European Army – an imperialistic army of mercenaries, what from the EU side is called “the European dimension in the field of education” – the capitals way of producing obedient workers ready to take part in the neoliberal labour market of the EU. These and many more attacks from the European Union and the interests of capital intervene and controls in a great extend the lives of youth and stands in the way for the realisation of our dreams and goals. The young communists in the Nordic region regard the common initiative that has been taken by the communist parties here, as our basis for fighting together against the EU and the adoption of EU-policies.
